Overview

The module is designed to introduce basic accounting concepts and financial statements to individuals who have had no or little experience with finance or accounting. The module has been designed as a prerequisite to the full Nonprofit Financial Stewardship program to facilitate the learning experience in the other modules.

Objectives

We will begin with defining nonprofit organizations and the uses of financial information for their stakeholders.
We will learn basic accounting concepts and their importance in financial reporting and financial statements.
We will review the processes and systems used for recording business transactions and creating financial statements.
We will review the three basic financial statements, their content and purpose.
